Holidays..

I wish I could have gone home.. but I suppose G-d had other plans for me.
So the barracks aren't as empty as I expected them to be. I'm a bit surprised. But happy too. Now I can cook and have someone to share it with. I can't cook for just me, there's always too much.

I'm thinking of finding some type of volunteering to do for xmas eve and xmas day. There's got to be something around here I can do.

Ideas anyone?

Then New Years. . I've never really cared for the big crowds of drunk people screaming and singing on New Years.
I just took my kids out to a lake and shot of a few dozen roman candles and let them play with sparklers. :)

I wonder if it'll snow here soon. Snow was something that just didn't happen in Houston, so I'll try to enjoy it here. No promises. The idea of playing in frozen wet fluffyness isn't that appealing.
heh

However, a double scotch and pumpkin spice (tobacco!) hookah next to a fireplace sounds fucking amazing. LOL

New Blog

My old blog was from the old me and a now closed chapter of my life.

Let's start something new, shall we?

I've really enjoyed the past 15 or so months that I've been in the army.
I will admit, it's not what I expected.
I was nervous going in, and somewhat underwhelmed by basic training. Pftt, that wasn't hard at all!
And all of the 17-19 yr olds whining about how much they miss home? I left my 2 adorable kids for 10 wks, you little unappreciative snots who complain about your parents and their rules can stfu.
I'm so glad I went in at 26 and not 18. Having already experienced supervisors and managers and bosses and daily office bullshit, drill sergeants weren't scary at all. The yelling was a bit annoying at times, but usually I found it to be hilarious. The worst was when they'd get in your face after eating something horrid at lunch and you just want to say "Shit guy, I'm not deaf. Have you heard of personal space before Mr Garlic Breath?" >_<

Needless to say, I did many many push-ups in my little stay at Fort Jackson. /smirk/
And it wasn't ALL easy. Being short had some disadvantages. I could either stay in step, or keep up, but not both. Having a 28" inseam and attempting a 30" step caused shin splints, knee pain, and stress fractures in the balls of my feet. If that wasn't fun enough, I had a (hot but) sadistic DS who told me and another female my size to pick up a 300# generator. I dislocated my hip and tore a groin muscle. He told me to put icy hot on it LOL
So that 10 mile march back from our last FTX was NOT fun at all. At least is was dark outside, so no one saw me crying. That shit hurt, but I wasn't about to fall out of our last big thing before graduation.

AIT was a joke. Anything we needed to know we could learn by ctrl + F. I had to do things to keep myself from falling asleep because 1 - power point is BEYOND boring and 2- I learn a LOT faster than the instructors taught.
However, being surrounded by a bunch of 19-24 yr olds kids and not having much outside influence and ZERO responsibility made me feel like I was in college again. We got shit faced, got tattoos, gossiped about who was F-ing whom..

And finally, I make it to Fort Campbell.
I like it here. Except that I just might die from hypothermia this winter. Otherwise, I plan on bringing my kids up here after we get back from deployment :) Good schools, it's pretty quiet and safe on post, lots of caves and trails and things for kids to explore near here. Parks on every other block in the residential area of post. I think I could like it if I were 10 again.
I love my job, except at the moment I'm working as an admin clerk in the orderly room :-/
I'm not so fond of PT at the ass crack of dawn. I like working out in the middle of my day, but I don't own my own business anymore... so...
I think I might stay in a while too. I'd like to try a few more things in the army before I leave. Air Assault school, Airborne school, and I might reclass once or twice to try new things. Next I'll probably be a 68P or 68X.

Well, my glass of wine is empty and it's about time to go my happy ass to bed.

I'll try to keep this blog more frequently updated than my last.

xoxo
